We do this by taking many precautions against hackers and data mining bots. First we own our own 128bit encrypted SSL certificate. This is activated when you visit our Sell Your Gold page. Please note the "Locked" symbol in the in the bottom right of your browser. Some browsers show the "Locked" symbol in the address bar as well, located at the top of your browser. The "Locked" symbol means the page and the transmission of the information to our server are encrypted. If someone intercepts your private data it would take ,according to some resources, trillions of years to decrypt your information.

After your data is transmitted to our server the SSL is decrypted. At this point most sites record your information to a database. A database is much like an Excel file, just columns and rows of information. If someone accessed the database all of your information would be venerable. To prevent this, Gold Tree adds several layers of protection. First, your data is encrypted again and recorded to the database in its encrypted form. Second, there is only

one account that can access the database. For this account, we use random passwords that are deemed "very strong". We also randomly change the password. Third, we use only Linux servers, which are known to be much more secure than mainstream servers.

Most of the information Gold Tree collects from you is required by law and is only made accessible strictly for law enforcement. Read more about it in our Privacy Policy. The only information we use is your contact information and your shipping address. To retrieve this information from the server, we once again use 128bit SSL encryption during the transmission to our computers. Any info we store locally (not on the server) is recorded to offline drives that cannot be hacked because they have no physical connection to the internet.

For your protection we video record every scrap gold package we receive. The recording starts at the opening of your package and documents the inventory process. This process insures you receive credit for all the gold you sent. The finished video file is then linked with your information and stored on multiple offline hard disk drives. We store your information and video inventory for seven years after your settlement. The video file can be retrieved at any time to resolve any inventory disputes.

After the video inventory process we test your gold's purity and weight. You will receive a gold report detailing these measurements along with the amount of your settlement for your approval and acceptance.
